Here are a few extracts from letters we received after playing at people's weddings (we didn't include the complaints, summonses and death threats!)

quickilver ceilidh band

"...your contribution to our day was fantastic. We've converted many people to ceilidh dancing and the most reluctant dancers could not be persuaded to stop skipping. Thank you so much- we'll spread the word happily about you and the band"
-Annie

"Hi Chris,

Just wanted to thank you so much for playing so brilliantly on Saturday night.  We're sorry there wasn't more time for your second set.  The caller handled the crowd (and the restraints of the museum) brilliantly and everyone had a fantastic time.  In fact many of our friends ended up getting together and we're sure this was because of the barn dance.

Hope you enjoyed it too and thanks again
love Susan and Ben"

"There wasn't a single person who didn't dance, and everyone was so enthusiastic about the ceilidh. The band was extremely friendly and accomodating. I have danced a few ceilidhs before, but have never enjoyed the music as much-the band played a few numbers without any dancing, and they were just as good to listen to as to dance to."
-Rob

"A big thank you to Quicksilver for playing at Richard and Sophie's wedding on Saturday. They asked us to pass on their thanks and thought you were absolutely wonderful."
-Clare

"Thank you so much for the wonderful entertainment that helped the reception to go so well- everyone I spoke to really enjoyed it."
-Richard and Hazel

"I love music, and I love dancing, and I wanted music that reached the soul. This, and more, is exactly what I got"
-Marrion

"The feedback since the wedding has been great and many people have said how much they enjoy the ceilidh and how clearly taught the dances were even if they couldn't dance them in their drunken state!"
-Ron

Just a short note to say thank you for helping to arrange Quicksilver for our wedding.
The attitude, helpfulness and in particular the music that the band played was SUPERB. They were more than happy to adapt to changes on the day. The venue management had incorrectly asked them to set up their equipment inside. On arrival they were more than happy to play an accoustic set outside in the courtyard, which again was great.
Later in the evening the excellent caller managed to get even the most unlikely dancers up on their feet - I never thought i would see an 84 year old granny dancing at a ceilidh, but it did happen.
Please feel free to pass this note on to the band, and I would be happy to recommend both Quicksilver and your service to anyone in the future. Once again thank you,"

"Just writing to say a big thank you for coming last week and playing at the Hospital. I was so imprtessed myself, and clearly the music was much appreciated by all concerned."

-Stephen Cole (Chelsea and Westminster Hospital)

"We all thought you were brilliant . Thank you so much all of you, for the excellent playing, much enjoyed, much appreciated and a memorable part of a lovely day."

-Iona

"We'd just like to say that your set was fantastic, everyone loved it so much. Unfortunately we didn't have time to dance to many sets ourself, but we know that both the indians and irish loved it from start to finish. Please thank all of your bandmates for us. "

-Giles

"Quicksilver are great, thanks again for playing at our wedding reception in Thorpeness, Suffolk. You managed to get everyone dancing to your lively tunes and you certainly helped create a wonderful atmostphere throughout the evening."

Thanks. It was a great night. ...

The dance worked out perfectly. As you know, I had never been to a do that had separate dancing with the screen down the middle, and was quite anxious. Now I can't imagine any other format. The combination of klezmer and Scottish was a definite hit with all the guests. ...

So many people told us afterwards that it was the best wedding they had ever been to. The way the music moved around really kept the evening going. ...

I'll happily pass on your contact details to anyone who approaches me, and would be delighted to give you a recommendation if asked.

Best wishes to you and the guys.

Richard, Glasgow

We want to thank you so much for all the great music that you have created and supplied for our wedding. We really appreciate all of the preparation, time and effort you've put in to helping to make our day so special

Many thanks for booking Quicksilver for me - they were (again, per Jan 16th) absolutely brilliant. they played fantastically, and poor Alan calling out moves to such an incompetent bunch of dancers (excluding myself of course) must have been such a nightmare for him. He did a great job and created a brilliant atmosphere.

Thanks again to all of them for making the party so much fun.

Kindest regards
Lisa

Many thanks for the superb performance last night.
Phil , Luton

Our many thanks from the both of us to you for helping make our wedding as wonderful as it was. You managed to get our well fed family and friends up and dancing round the room. Everyone told us how much they enjoyed it and how it got the party started. Many thanks

Francis and Sarah , London

Hello Fiona,
With a little bit of delay, I'd like to thank you very much for booking Quicksilver for our party on the 10th.
They were a great band, very friendly and easy to get on with too. Everybody had a fantastic time dancing and we had a lot of comments from
our guests about how good the band was and that it was much better than having a normal disco! They left us a CD which is much appreciated.
Thanks again!

Best regards,
Joanna

Dear Chris

Will definitely be keeping your number in our phonebook!

Mark & Sally Lamley, Brighton

Dear Chris

We wanted to say a big thank you for all you did to make our wedding celebrations so enjoyable. The music you played throughout the day was excellent and we received very positive feedback from our guests who were amazed by your skill and versatility. The Irish-Israeli music, in particular, was a big hitwith our families and it proved to be a great ice-breaker! Please pass on our sincere thanks to everyone who joined you on the day.

best wishes Dermot and Emma

Dear Mike

Re Wedding 14th June Quicksilver were such a success at our wedding. Everyone loved the Scottish dancing and the general opinion was that the caller was brilliant. Thank you so much for all your patience in speaking to Henrietta and keeping her calm about the opening dance. Nobody seems to have experienced a finale like yours- what a wonderful way to bring the party to a close. The bride and groom wanted to make sure they had spoken to all their guests and you certainly made that possible with such a wonderful final dance. We had many people saying that it was the best wedding they had been to- mainly due to your efforts, I am sure.

Thank you so much

Julie

In June '08 we played for Sting for a party in his back garden in Wiltshire. He was kind enough to write to our agent:

Really great! Thank u so much for all your hard work in trying to track down dancers and musicians!! The musicians were great, really charming and flexible and did a great job.
Pls thank them again for me - and thank you to you too!

To all of Quicksilver

We wanted to write to thank you so much for playing at our wedding reception at the Stable , Tewinbury Farm on 8th Nov 2008. The music and the dancing were wonderfuland so much fun! So many guests told us how much they enjoyed it and how different it was from the usual disco- even those who had been a little sceptical before. A lot of the older people really enjoyed the evening- even those who couldn't dance- which was exactly what we'd hoped for. Apologies for the generally poor standard of our dancing skills- and thank you for the endless patience in teaching us!

with thanks and best wishes

Katy and Tom
